Agriculture

These professions generally have to do with hunting, fishing, farming, and gathering food, be it plant or animal, by whatever means necessary. Agricultural professionals generally have good perception and a great deal of knowledge dealing with plants, animals, and weather.

Animal Trainer

An animal trainer is one who domesticates animals. It usually requires equal amounts of patience, respect, and love for the animals being trained. If desired, animal trainers already have an animal trained for hunting or performing acts of stealth or they can choose one at any time between adventures. If their animal dies, they are automatically considered to get a new one before the next adventure.

Beekeeper

This profession consists of anything necessary for keeping bees and harvesting the honey. For the purposes of Dice Mob, they also have a good understanding of the plants and herbs, especially when it comes to how it would affect bees and honey. They also have a decent understanding of insects and other bugs. Their bodies have developed a resistance to poisons from having been stung. They usually have a small jar of high quality honey on them (which can be used for whatever inventive uses a jar of honey might be used for) with no encumbrance restrictions.

Note: Unlike other apprentice professions, an apprentice beekeeper gains a defensive adjustment to Poison/Disease rather than knowledge outside of beekeeping itself.

Falconer

Falconers train birds of prey to hunt other birds for food. Like hunters, they generally have good perception and good knowledge of the wilderness they range looking for food. For the purpose of Dice Mob, falconers automatically have a trained hunting bird of prey. If their animal dies, they are automatically considered to get a new one before the next adventure.

Note: A child cannot apprentice as a falconer. Generally they apprentice as either apprentice hunters or apprentice animal handlers.

Farmer

Farmers are generally healthy, strong, and hard-working. They have a keen eye to keep track of their fields and the animals in their care. They also generally have a good sense of when good and bad weather is on its way. Because they are outside during both the hot and cold months, they have grown some resistance to hot and cold weather. Although they are by no means an expert, they are considered proficient in treating injuries and ailments in animals. |

Fisherman

Fishermen come in two varieties: saltwater fishermen and freshwater fishermen. In addition to actual fishermen, there are also whalers, crabbers, and oyster divers. All of these types of “fishermen” generally have a good sense of the types of waters where they ply their trade, whether that be freshwater rivers and streams, salt water seas, or oceans, either near the coast or far out to sea. In familiar areas, they would be good at avoiding shoals, reefs, or other water hazards lurking beneath the surface.

Crabber

Crabbers build traps for crabs to lure them in. They generally fish while they're waiting for crabs to be lured into their traps. They are generally good at identifying saltwater fish in the areas where they crab as well as the crab, lobsters, and shrimp that they catch. Their profession has made them resistant to the elements.

Oyster Divers

Oyster Divers are strong individuals who can hold their breaths for long periods of time while they search at the bottom of a shallow cove for oysters to eat and pearls to sell. Because they generally only search for pearls in warm oceans, their resistance to the elements is only for the sun beating down on them. They can accurately appraise the worth of pearls. They can hold their breath for one minute per die of stamina instead of the standard thirty seconds.

Defensive Skill Burning/Acid

Saltwater Fisherman

Saltwater fisherman often resort to nets or poles with bait and strong lines and manning boats bound for the best locations for whatever fish they hunt. Saltwater fisherman have generally become resistant to the elements. They can find types of saltwater fish.

Whalers

Whaling is not for the feint of heart. It takes a fit, strong, and perceptive person to be a good whaler. Whalers generally have to whale in colder climates and have become resistant to inclement weather, especially colder weather. A lack of time among others (aside from their crew) for long periods of time often leaves them with gaps when it comes with dealing with other people.

Apprentice Fisherman (Child)

Unlike other agricultural apprentice professions, children brought up as fishermen are lumped together with a common attribute and knowledge that they possess. They know how to fish though they haven't generally learned enough to consider themselves proficient in any manner of survival.

Herdsman

Whether they're herding sheep or cattle, herdsmen are generally very perceptive when it comes to recognizing danger, either by the weather or by predators out to pick off a weaker member of their flock or herd. Their profession generally leads to robust health and resistance to the elements as well as being handy with a staff, club, or sling to keep away the wolves or coyotes.

Offensive Skill Weapon Proficiency + Blunt Ranged
Defensive Skill Burning/Acid, Freezing
Attributes Stamina, Perception*2
Knowledge Survival

Hunter

Unlike farmers and herdsmen, hunters are looking for wild game. Hunters have great perception and their lifestyle generally lends to good health and fitness. They can move stealthily if needed, especially when they're moving up on skittish prey, and they're pretty handy with their ranged weapon of choice, generally a bow or crossbow. If desired, hunters will already have one or two hunting dogs in Dice Mob.

Survivalist

Survivalists are people who thrive on surviving in difficult environments. Often they take jobs as guides in areas few dare to venture. Because they force themselves to live off the land, they are generally good at anything which helps them to get food and water and have trained their bodies to tolerate extreme weather and elements.

Defensive Skill Freezing, Burning/Acid, Poison/Disease, Electricity
Attributes Stamina, Perception
Knowledge Survival, Wilderness Survival (Third Degree)

Trapper

Like hunters, trappers are out seeking wild game rather than domesticating and slaughtering their own flock or herd. Like hunters, trappers use the meat to feed themselves, but they're mostly after the pelts which they sell for money. Like most of the agricultural professions, trappers are healthy and perceptive. They are generally stealthy when trying to set up a snare in such a way as to not spook game. Rather than hunting animals with weapons, trappers normally resort to pits and snares to capture prey. Because of the areas where they generally trap for pelts, they have become more resistant to the cold. They know how to cure hides and perhaps even taxidermy.

Agricultural laborers in the farm industry include apprentice fishermen, farm hands, shepherds, apprentice hunters, etc. Knowledge and attributes depends on how the child apprenticed and includes the primary knowledge or attribute of that profession. (The primary knowledge and attribute are bolded in the descriptions above.)
