Weapons

Just about anything could be used as a weapon, but in general we're just going to consider weapons that were designed to attack people, usually by hitting them or firing something at them. Weapons that fire bullets, bolts, arrows, stones, and needles are generally considered to always have what they need, for simplicity's sake.

The weapons listed here are generally from western cultures, weapons from eastern cultures are also welcome and can generally just use the appropriate western equivalent to determine the number of dice rolled.

Whereas defenses and attributes generally begin with a base of two dice, attacks do not. They start at zero and add dice based on the weapon or spell being used plus any modifiers.

Melee Weapons

Melee weapons are weapons used between one to two meters of a person. If an opponent gets beyond that range they are generally ineffective.

Warhammer B*2 1 A short-handled heavy hammer wielded one-handed.

Pole-Arms

Pole-arms are longer weapons which are generally ineffective at melee range (1-2 meters) but can be used effectively at 3-4 meters to keep someone with a melee weapon (including using bite, claws, or fists) from having an attack.

The following special rules apply to combat involving pole-arms:

  1. A character wielding a melee weapon never attacks before a character wielding a pole-arm UNLESS that melee weapon has already hit the character wielding the pole-arm.
  2. A character wielding a melee weapon cannot attack a character wielding a pole-arm if he took damage from the character wielding the pole-arm during that round.
  3. A character wielding a pole-arm cannot attack a character wielding a melee weapon if he took damage from that character's melee weapon the previous round or the current round.

Ranged Weapons

Ranged weapons normally loose a missile (with the exception of the whip) and are generally ineffective inside of 3 meters (except crossbows and guns).

Name Offense 3) Range Encumbrance Description
Blowgun Po Short 1 A hollow reed blown with a puff of air which releases a barbed thorn, generally coated in poison and wielded one-handed.

Handcrossbow P + Po? Short 1 A small one-handed crossbow often used by thieves and assassins because it is easily concealed. The quarrels are usually poisoned.
Heavy Crossbow P*3 Long 1 A heavy two-handed crossbow. Because of the difficulty in loading the weapon, it can only be fired every other round.

Longbow P*3 Long 2 A two-handed bow for shooting long range.
Net Special Short 1 A capturing device constructed of a metal net with several heavy ends. A successful Dexterity vs Personal attack will determine if the opponent is captured. A captured opponent does not have any actions until they are freed, usually with a successful Dexterity Skill Check by themselves or others trying to free them.

Whip S Short 1 A long leather string with a handle. It is whipped in such a way as to strike with such force and speed that it will slice open skin and crack loudly (from breaking the sound barrier).

Modern Ranged Weapons

The following are shown for comparisons with modern day weapons. The GM is welcome to introduce these into their campaign if they so choose but should probably give a reason why they exist or have some notion that these are some ancient alternative.

Name Offense 4) Range Encumbrance
Pistol P*4 Long 1
Rifle P*4 Extra-Long 1
Shotgun P*5 Medium 1

Ranges

Short-ranged weapons have a maximum range of 10 meters, less in the case of a whip or flail.

Medium-ranged weapons have a maximum range of 50 meters.

Long-ranged weapons have a maximum range of 200 meters.

Extra-long ranged weapons have an effective maximum range of 500 meters 5).

Ranged weapons can hit a range in a range group one higher than the one in which they are slotted with a penalty of two dice unless they have some skill or add-on, like a scope, that negates that.
